Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor based on background and qualifications and may be in either on the Clinical or Tenure Track, depending upon research interests and background. The University of Iowa is a level 1 trauma center and cares for severely injured patients from around the state. This is an outstanding opportunity to join our academic department and to be a part of our growing spine service. The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care's nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. The facility has been designed to support a superior patient and staff experience; excellence across our patient care, teaching and research missions; convenient access to services; and engaging community partnerships. The orthopedic spine service will provide care to patients at this new facility as well as at the central Level 1 Trauma Center. Education Requirement: The candidate must hold an MD, DO or equivalent degree. The candidate must be a graduate of an ACGME accredited orthopedic residency program, or its equivalent. The candidate must have completed a fellowship in spine surgery. Required Qualifications: The candidate must be eligible for Iowa medical licensure. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to ongoing performance improvement. Certifications: American Board of Orthopedic Surgery certification or eligibility prior to the start of employment is required. Desirable Qualifications: Demonstrated contributions to spine surgery research through scholarly activities such as publications, presentations, or other academic endeavors. Demonstrated commitment to education through teaching and mentoring medical students and/or residents in an academic medical setting. Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace.
