General Description
+ Depending on trade, scope can be construction/utility based, supporting manufacturing equipment and processes, or both.
+ Installs, maintains and repairs industrial manufacturing equipment and utility infrastructure.
Summary
The Skilled Trades Apprentice Program combines on the job training with academic coursework. The successful candidate will be trained in a US Department of Labor certified apprenticeship program to work in a manufacturing environment in one of the following trades:
+ Electrician*
+ Machine Repair*
+ Millwright Welder
+ Pipefitter
+ Auto, Truck & Trailer Repair
+ Transmission Mechanic
+ Refrigeration & AC Maintenance
+ Stationary Engineer Powerhouse
+ Tool & Die Maker
+ Carpenter
Required Qualifications
+ Must be able to work any shift
+ Must be 18 years of age or otherwise compliant with applicable State and Federal laws
+ High school graduate or equivalent
+ Must be able to qualify for admission to university hosting academic course work.
Additional Qualifications
+ Individuals may be given partial credit for prior experience if applicable, including non-industrial apprenticeships or AP high school credits.
Working Conditions and Hazards
+ May be required to work with high voltage electricity.
+ May be required to work in cramped positions or from ladders, in oils and greases, etc.
+ Must be able to pass the industrial vehicle physical examination.
*Most apprentices will be trained as either Electrician or Machine Repair.
