The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a  Psychologist III – Forensic Evaluator to conduct court-ordered forensic evaluations, violence risk assessments, and competency assessments for patients at  Dallas State Hospital , a premier Joint Commission-accredited psychiatric facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct competency evaluations (46B), violence risk assessments (46C), and other forensic evaluations under Texas law
  • Provide expert witness testimony and consultation to courts and hospital staff
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support competency restoration and forensic programming
  • Develop, oversee, and improve forensic psychological services in accordance with HHSC guidelines and legal standards
  • Supervise and train graduate psychology trainees or other staff as assigned
  • Maintain documentation, write clear forensic reports, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Support recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care across clinical and forensic services

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited university
  • Licensed as a Psychologist in Texas (or reciprocity state)
  • 1+ year of supervised experience by a licensed psychologist
  • 1+ year conducting forensic evaluations and psychological assessments in an inpatient setting
  • 1+ year conducting individual and group therapy with forensic psychiatric populations
