About the Role

Were hiring aLead Data Scientist / Data Engineerto take a critical role in the day-to-day development and deployment of the Waffle Model. Reporting directly to the Chief Data Scientist, youll lead technical development of our model architecture, infrastructure, and production systems. Youll bea senior memberofthe data science team, with major influence over technical direction and product design.

This role is full-time, in-person at our Boston office.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of the Waffle Model (Nostra-1) across research, training, and deployment
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines and modeling infrastructure
• Own end-to-end development of production-ready machine learning workflows
• Collaborate with engineering on tooling, scalability, and integration into client-facing products
• Contribute to a growing culture of technical excellence and team mentorship

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or data engineering
• Proficient in Python and modern data processing workflows (e.g., pandas, NumPy, PySpark)
• Strong foundation in classical machine learning methods (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost, etc.)
• Experience building and deploying real-world models end-to-end
• Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related field
• MLops tools (Docker, Airflow, MLflow) and modern model deployment workflows
• Must be authorized to work in the US. No visa sponsorship.
• In-person position. Successful candidate must be based in the Boston area.

Bonus Experience

• Multimodal machine learning (e.g., combining numeric, text, image, or graph data)
• Graphical causal inference and structural causal models
• Working with high-dimensional, heterogeneous datasets
