Job Description

Community Engagement Coordinator

The Hunger Coalition builds a healthy community through access to good food and addresses the root causes of food insecurity in collaboration with key partners. We envision a community where everyone has access to good food regardless of economic circumstances, where human connections grow, and all are empowered to speak up and be heard.

THC builds leaders who embrace a growth mindset, who are self-motivated and self-disciplined, who are committed to learning and development, and who thoughtfully and creatively risk-take to innovate solutions to our community's deepest gaps. We operate in a ground-up style of leadership. Employees are encouraged to dream big and bring ideas to the table. Our community's diverse and rich experiences are centered. Managers act as coaches and advocates to help make those dreams come to life.

Job Summary

The bilingual Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) primary role is to support participants in accessing food and connecting individuals and families to resources in our community, while learning about the challenges they face. This role requires the ability to work closely in an intimate office setting with people in crisis. The CEC maintains professional and robust relationships with partners in the community and maintains confidentiality.

The second focus of this position is to oversee recruitment and engagement of partners at multiple Bloom Programming sites including community meals, volunteer garden sessions, workshops, support groups, and other programs as a form of mental wellness. The CEC will work with the Community Education Team to develop and facilitate a suite of non-clinical, culturally relevant mental wellness engagement opportunities.
